The back paws on most dogs
are between 8-12% smaller than
the front paws. One size does
not fit all. Get shoes that fit!
Prevent Split and Cut Paws. Give your dog proper protection from the cold or heat of outdoors
Putting Shoes On Your Dog
* It may take a few times of wearing shoos for your pooch to get used to walking in them. Like human shoes, Poochey Shoos™ will become a little more flexible once 'broken in'. So remember a little practice and patience goes along way, as do
treats!
* To put on open the shoo wide, place the paw in using your pointer finger to help guide the paw down into the shoo (like a shoe horn). Have your pooch then place its weight on the paw to ensure that the paw sets down into the shoo. Then put the tongue in place and securely wrap the Velcro strap.
* Place the extra set of innersoles in the back two shoos, to adjust the 8-12 % size difference of your pooch's front and back paws. (Optional)
* Start with having your dog wear Poochey Shoos™ for short periods of time, gradually increasing each time they are worn. Once you put shoos on your pooch, immediately follow with encouragement, a walk, or playtime. Make sure they associate wearing shoos with fun.
We made our shoes with this in mind we have provided extra innersoles in case you need them for the back paws
Selecting The Right Shoe Size
*Print the 'Paw Size Chart' from the Poochey Shoos™ website.
*Get your pooch to place its paw on the chart, use the front paw only for measuring! Make sure they place their weight on the paw to determine accurate size.
*The size that you select should be big enough to cover the paw from front to back, including the nails. The size chart reflects actual innersole dimensions, so make sure their paws comfortably fit in the allotted size. If in doubt that it's to tight of a fit, go up a size.
* We strongly recommend that your dog's nails are clipped, to determine their accurate size.
* While Poochey Shoos™ are real shoes and do offer protection to your dog's paws, as with any other pet accessory they are a novelty and your dog should be supervised
at all times while wearing.
Things To Remember
*The first few times your dog wears shoes, its likely they will rapidly shake their front paws, or simply 'freeze' and not want to move. Don't get discouraged, this behaviour is normal until they are accustomed to wearing shoes.
*Some training with positive reinforcement may be needed until your pooch adjusts.
*Supervise your pooch when they first start wearing shoes, since dogs inherently have a tendency to 'chew'.
*After the brief adjustment period, wearing Poochi Shoos will become routine. You and your pooch will love their protection, comfort, and cleanliness! Not to mention, the well deserved attention they will receive!
